Prior to Nantucket's illustrious Whaling Era, island natives wove baskets for the necessities of daily life. The craft was later picked up by the men in order to pass time on whaling and lightships. The tradition of the lightship basket remains a symbol of the island and its history.
Diverging from history's path, or perhaps paving her own, Susan Lister Locke crafted the "Anti-Basket"--a playful statement piece with a surprise inside.
